Pestle (without a vessel)

Santina’s dad inherited a couple of olivewood mortars without any pestles, so I made one for him.  Finished with a butcher block oil finish.  I took a pic of it in Santina’s marble mortar, just so you know what it is (kind of looks like a miniature baseball bat otherwise).

I really like the figure in olivewood.  Unfortunately, it’s expensive–a 3″x3″x12″ turning square is about $60, compared to about $18 for maple.  Woodworking’s not such a cheap hobby…
